Heres the wssay question that im answering

How does the enlightenment as represented by kant. reflect the influence on bacon? thanks

Kant’s influence on Bacon

The Enlightenment represented by Kant, influenced Bacon, in many ways from the way his thoughts were put out, to the way he speaks up against other philosophers. He was trying to get people to think on there own, and use there minds, as well as not listening to what every one is saying. Both Kant and Bacon had there own thoughts and ideas, but what they were trying to say had a lot in common. The system back then was not like it was today, there was freedom of speech, but not to a full extent that there is today. Kant Had great deals of influence on Bacon, many people believe most of his work was influenced By Kant.

The way Kant influence Bacon, was the way Bacon had no remorse on speaking against other philosopher’s telling people that they don’t halve to listen to Aristotle, they can listen to anyone they want, and go there own way, but what Bacon said was I can guide you through this if you listen to me. Bacon said “but even though Aristotle were the man he is thought to be I shall warn you against receiving as oracles the thoughts and opinions of one man” (pg 40). Immanuel Kant was one of the first people out there to try to get the commoners to not be intimidated by leaders, saying you can do well in society as well, by that Kant said most of the working class people were

Immature and lazy, but that was a large part of man kind. He said “immaturity is the incapacity to use one’s intelligence without the guidance of others” (pg 52). In my opinion by that quote Kant was saying you aren’t born with what you have, you can change it if you work hard at trying to become what you want to be. Those two quotes are very similar. They are both going for the commoners, trying to get them to be them selves, think on there own and go there own way.

In The New Organon Francis Bacon used excerpts in a phenomenal way, which Kant stating as well, Bacon said “There are and can be only two ways of searching into and discovering the truth”(pg 40). Kant demonstrated a very similar idea saying “Have the courage to use your own intelligence! Is therefore the motto of the Enlightenment” (pg 52). In my opinion those two quotes are very similar, as they are trying to enlightened the people in the same sense. What Bacon was trying to say is you don’t always halve to do the right thing; you can change the idea of what people are thinking by searching into the other way and discovering the truth. I think what Kant was trying to saying is be brave and go with your gut, if you feel it is right. The way these quotes are similar, is the way Kant influenced Bacon was to use your own intelligence and really look in and discover the truth.

So in conclusion, The Enlightenment represented by Kant, influenced Bacon in many ways from the way his thought are put out, to the way he speaks up against other

Philosophers, trying to get people to think and use there own minds, not listening to what every one is saying. The Enlightenment represented by Kant was a new type of writing, and way of thinking, he put his work out to other people to read, and think about what he was saying, and try to change the way there minds were thinking. Kant and bacon changed the way people thought back in the 16th and 18th century, and people today are still appreciating the writing that these stellar philosophers thought

Unless your prof is miraculously on Yahoo, nobody's feedback is going to help you. Go to your college's writing center; they pay people to help students like you. Then you'll at least get good feedback rather than be at the mercy of random yahoos.
