Prompt: Having the courage of one’s convictions is considered a virtue. But sometimes it’s prudent to compromise or change one’s mind. Using examples drawn from your studies, observations, experience, or reading, show in an essay how someone made a wise decision by compromising or changing his or her mind.





Essay:


Having the courage of one’s conviction is praised as a virtue, yet it can be prudent to compromise or change one’s mind. Upon gathering new information, examining the situation, and acquiring a different perspective, a better solution may occur. Changing one’s opinion is not a fault, but ignorance and arrogance sure are.


Arthur Dimmesdale’s confession in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter” confirms that altering one’s decision can be prudent. As a Puritan minister, he had a secret affair with Hester Prynne and fathered an illegitimate child.|||i have one critique, reapeating the question is adviced but i would prefer if it wasnt stated the exact same way as it was given.
