What do you think of my poem?

Please, not just, %26quot;It's good.%26quot; %26quot;It's bad.%26quot; etc. I'd prefer more concrete examples of what you like and dislike, things you would change, etc.

You should know

What it鈥檚 like to lose your mind.

If only for a moment, well, if so, that鈥檚 fine.Nataliee R 694

But even then, share the fright.

Tedious, to live a separate reality.

Phantoms trekking through the mind

Fiction and factuality blended

In your own autobiography.

Time progresses, and yet you can鈥檛 be relieved

The gruesome knowledge that keeps you shaking

Everyone鈥?s always watching, judging

You fall too fast, too hard, with fixation.

Astounded by the clarity of self-destruction,

Pessimism, skepticism, insecurity

Too lost in one鈥檚 one degrading head.

To ever be brought back to a peaceful actuality.

Sound a bit terrifying?

Only to the lucid

When all is gone awry in the unstable mind

Insanity replaces normality.

Like another said, u stuck with a theme, which keeps the poem interesting.

To me, because u used words like 'tedious, fright, fiction, reality, fixation', etc, the poem feels like it's about thoughts that keep nagging at your mind and pulling at your heart. I've been through that- daily, actually. So I can relate to this.

The tiniest thing I would change is in the line 'Time progresses, and yet you can't be relieved.' It is redundant to use 'and' with 'yet'. lol That's the only critique that I have. Really doesn't matter.

good
I definitely think the themes here are interesting; unlike many authors, you stick to the topic and don't diverge distractingly. I'm a little confused about %26quot;Nataliee R 694.%26quot; Is this an allusion to something? If it's important, keep it in, but many readers may not understand it.

Also, the second and third lines %26quot;lose your mind%26quot; and %26quot;well...that's fine%26quot; rhyme, which gives the impression that you will continue to rhyme in the rest of the piece. If you really don't want to use a rhyme scheme (which is of course, completely fine) I would avoid the first rhyme there.

And, because I'm a bit of a grammar (and spelling, etc) Nazi, just a few errors: %26quot;one's one degrading%26quot; should be %26quot;one's OWN degrading.%26quot;

%26quot;All is gone awry%26quot; should be %26quot;All HAS gone awry.%26quot;

Last thing -- I know your goal is free verse (no rhyme scheme or consistent rhythm) but you may want to have some sort of loose structure that is consistent among the stanzas. Just my two cents.
I absolutely loved it. I relate to it so much. I know exactly what you're talking about. My favorite part was...

To ever be brought back to a peaceful actuality.

I understand that part completely. I honestly wouldn't change anything, I feel like your portrayed the feelings perfectly.

Is this normal for Children in daycare?

Ok I have two girls age 2 and 13mo. I started working for the first time since my 2 year old was 6mo in July from July until mid Aug We had our neighbors daughters watching them but they just started school again so I had to find daycare. The one I Loved didn't have an opening for my 13mo old but my second choice did. Unfortunately I waited to long to sign my 2 year old up (But we are on the waiting list for both kids but there is most likely a wait for a year) I ended up putting my children in the second choice. My 2 year old started on Tuesday and not only loves it but hasn't had one accident since (she's only been potty training for 2 weeks) My 13mo old started on Thursday. I haven''t noticed any change in my 2 year olds behavior other than a little rougher play than usual with her sister. I noticed tonight (Friday) that my 13mo old was rolling around on the floor throwing a fit (almost looked like break dancing) My 2 year old is very bright and can answer questions correctly I asked her (like i have all week about daycare) if other kid/babies did that. She nodded her head and said night night (which means nap) It kind of worries me beacues she has always just walked away from me when i've said no or won't let her have something she wants she has never thrown a fit. My kids have never been in daycare or anything along those lines Other than the month my neighbors (Which they love and I love) watched them neigher has been out of my site for more than 2 hrs. I desperately need to work (just the time off has hurt us financially) and I honestly need a break from my kids. Am i overreacting or is this picking up of behavior normal. Also Since thursday my 13mo old wants nothing to do with me and only wants her dad (she was breastfeed until Aug and has always cried within seconds of being in her fathers arms)

I know the daycare is a little short staffed right now (one person is moving and another is sick) but They have had the 1year olds and 2 year olds in the same room (i don't mind to much beacues my daughters are together) and the one's that are watching the kids seem a little hazy in the mornings and has never asked any questions about the kids.
Is this normal for Children in daycare?
Hey there...

First, I would say that you need to instigate conversation with the teachers in the mornings...and when you pick them up, too. In the mornings, tell them things like that so and so is a little crabby this morning or the other one didn't sleep well last night, that kind of thing. Lots of time in the morning they're trying to get their paperwork filled out, greet the kids and keep things under control...and, yeah, like us they're probably still a bit sleepy. Ask them if they're tired, try to develop rapport with them. I'm not saying they aren't dropping the ball but it is both of your responsibility...if they aren't going to pick up their end then you'll need to give them a little push by starting it.

At the end of the day, ask how their day was, ask for specifics like what they learned that day, did they nap, did they have a time out. Not only will this show the teachers that they need to be on their game with you, a caring parent, and not only will it develop rapport with them...but it'll give you lots of things to talk about with your children about how their day went. ie: SO, you learned all about the animals in the sea today...I like the sea horse, which one was your favorite animal? That kind of thing... :)

Second, YES, it's totally normal for your little ones to pick up habits from other kids at school. Teachers can't change the fact that some kids throw fits...that is a behavior that some parents allow...and they probably do what they can to stop those children but it won't stop yours from witnessing it. What I do in that situation is use it as a learning experience...I ask her, as you did, if the kids at school do that and then I go on to explain that it is naughty behavior and won't be tolerated. If she %26quot;fights back%26quot; by saying well, so and so did it...I tell her I'm not so and so's mommy, I'm HER mommy and MY rule is that it is naughty...and that she WILL get punished for that behavior.

It would be great if our kids didn't see behavior in order to learn it that we don't like...but they are going to...either now or in 'real' school....so the only thing we can do is point it out as examples of what NOT to do...

With my daughter: We were in walmart and this boy started to throw a fit...a boy that looked about TEN YEARS old...about something he couldn't have. He was with both parents. My daughter saw this and said something like, %26quot;Mommy, he's throwing a fit, that's naughty!%26quot; The mother overheard and said, %26quot;What did you say?? Say that again!%26quot; Worried, I said, %26quot;I'm sorry, it's just that I teach her not to do that and she's just three so she doesn't mean any offense...%26quot; The mom said, %26quot;NO...I LOVE IT...%26quot; then called her son and husband back over and told Megan, %26quot;Say that again...%26quot; She did and then the mother said to her son, %26quot;She's what? 3? And even SHE knows you're acting like a baby!!%26quot; So talking about it with Megan really did help Megan to recognize bad behavior. So maybe you can give that a try...

Hope it helps. Good luck to you and take good care! :):)

to be honest my daughter is 3 and i would be a little worried i am a stay at home mom now but when she was first born i went back to work right away i had her on a friday and worked the next saturday i never sent her to a daycare she was always watched by my husbands nice who is 21 now and i think i would look into another day care if the people arn't awake and asking you questions about your kids they are at work and should act like it because if they act like that when you are there then what are they doing when you arnt there

My question is this that is this good to behave like Avi?

My question is this that is this good to behave like Avi?

There is a person his name is Avi

He is all the time like not a good person. Once BG has explained him a lot but still he needs a lot of things to get clear. Second I was in view that %26quot;Joanne%26quot; is very good at English but I came to know that her English is also not so good and dear, there is great difference the language you have as mother language and the language you study. Mother language is without grammar without any law. You only speak it as you learn from your parents and society. But when we study it we study it grammatically and according to some laws. There are a lot of things in my language which I don't know grammatically. When I hear them I say they are wrong but when an expert tells the law then it becomes clear. Same is with native English speakers. I do admit there are often mistakes in my write and that is why I put my work online and I also give others to read to let me know the mistakes. IT IS UNIVERSAL TRUTH THAT NO ONE CAN OBSERVE HIS OWN MISTAKES TILL HE DOES NOT ASK ANY ONE TO CORRECT THEM. Second in our country it is the law that before you publish your any thing, we get correction from experts and this is not called cheating at all. So if you mind for helping me that is narrow of your mind and this built something worse in my heart for you.

One thing more about Avi is this that his knowledge is very limited, if you have grip on language but if you don't have knowledge of any thing you can never give comments. The thing which is hard for you to understand this does not mean that there is fault in that thing. You better see yourself where you stand. The most important is this if none of you understand what I write, you can only say I don't understand but most of you suggest me that it should be in this way this proofs that you do understand my write. When you understand then you give suggestions.

TO PASS COMMENTS WITHOUT ANY LOGIC IS A SUPREME TYPE OF NONSENSE. Avi instead passing such small comments for people you better try to write any thing of your own. Whatever status it would have I will accept it, don't worry for this that your work will not be welcomed.

For Joanne I would say she has corrected some of my things and the last thing that she has corrected is here:-

She Corrected:

1. If a person is unable to change their fate, they can change their thought.

This correction is not according to grammar

The subject of the sentence is a person and the pronoun for a person can’t be their or they, we are not allowed to use pronouns in this way. Hope most of you will agree with me on this point?

Like Avi said English is Joanne is native language so what this mean?

Natives are mostly poor in grammar my dear “Avi”. NATIVES ALSO NEED TO LEARN GRAMMAR FOR WRITES. Wisdom is not in language my dear Avi. If It were like this, English would have never translated a lot of books form other languages to English and nor other nations would have translated English’s work in to their languages. Wisdom is in the mind of people, which they express through different sources of communication.

Avi tries to show his worst face in this way not only to me to every one else here. I have great respect for English people as they are royal like me. So you must try to keep this thing in mind that royal don’t behave like this. You can criticize one’s work but you can’t suggest any one to leave that work. WRITER IS LIKE A GOD AS GOD CREATES THINGS, WRITER ALSO CREATES THINGS AND GIVES UNKNOWN VISION LIKE GOD.

There are mistakes every where but this does not mean that he should leave the most creative thing just by that little thing. I want BG and LoveChild to answer to this question in detail if they get any thing from this write.

My question is this that is this good to behave like Avi?

Zahid from Pakistan
My question is this that is this good to behave like Avi?
I have read this quickly, I am on my way out for the day with my husband.

I agree with you. Spoken English is very different to written English, especially the English of serious, academic publications.

But, written language which sticks too closely to old rules does not grow richer. If I read articles written, for example, during the last war they appear to me to be very dry and full of long latinate phrases. I was taught Grammar as a separate subject when I was at school, but now children are expected to learn this by usage. I know what a noun, verb, adjective, adverb etc. is they do not.

I know the difference between words like 'whom' and 'who' but they do not. 'Whom' is very rarely used now in speech.

Joanne

%26quot;If a person is unable to change their fate, they can change their thought%26quot;...this is how we say this and write this. The reason? - common usage - and to avoid saying the awkward sentence -

%26quot;If a person is unable to change his or her fate, he or she can change his or her thought%26quot;

I don't wish to comment on 'Avi'. I will say, though, that there are many people on this site who are not always kind or helpful in their responses. They are ignorant people...take no notice of them.
My question is this that is this good to behave like Avi?
Please note that I grew up and learned to read and write English back in the 1970s, in the format that was correct at the time. I am 43 years old; not a teenager like many Y!A users today. Joanne

Arguing about seemingly irrelevant topics (like R&S) for everyday life may look futile, but is it really?

One might say: %26quot;why do you waste your time over the existence of a god if it doesn麓t impact your income or your love life or even your friendship circles%26quot;.

I would tend to agree, if it wasn麓t for this little detail of %26quot;buggy software%26quot;.

You see, even if we seem to be made from the same mold, everything demonstrates that subtle changes can have disastrous effects. If we really were so similar, communication would be so perfect as to render most conversations (and especially arguments) useless.

As we are not, I think that stressing the foundations of one麓s communication tools is paramount.

From my point of view, a computer Operating System (OS) is bug riddled if its assumptions do not match facts (Checksums) and twists the files to show what it wants (a puter couldn麓t do that of course because it麓s not analogous).

But humans can, and do. So for me a god-free frame of mind is important in a person because at least it tells me that one sees the world with facts, not wishful thinking.
Arguing about seemingly irrelevant topics (like R%26amp;S) for everyday life may look futile, but is it really?
R %26amp; S are not irrelevant topics. They are VITAL topics because they are philosophical concepts that humans hold and from which they act. Bad ideas beget bad actions. Such is the essence of the value of philosophy.

The battleground is between Faith and Reason. Faith is just a sentiment and should not be used as a tool for building correct abstractions. Reason is our natural tool of cognition and it's the only instrument we have that can help us distinguish truth from falsehood, real from unreal, just from unjust, and moral from immoral.

Since Faith requires no mental effort, it spreads like a virus very easily among the ignorant, lazy and un-intellectual masses. Religions make giant strides where there is poverty and ignorance. Religions lose ground where living is more comfortable, people are free to improve their education, and scientific inquiry produces beneficial results in medicine and in the standard of living.

If we wish to live in a more rational world, in a world where justice, truth, reality and happiness are important values, Reason must take precedence over Faith. It's a matter of survival, because Faith can only breed madness.

For %26quot;pshdsa%26quot;

I can't help answering you because one who follows Reason or is scientific does not require only empirical experiences to make correct abstractions. I have never been to Russia is a sentence that does not have the same meaning as I have never been to Heaven! Heaven contradicts ALL that is real in the universe, including its laws of physics, chemistry and biology -- Russia does not contradict anything. This is where LOGIC is important. You do not need to physically go to Russia. Armenia, Iraq, India, to KNOW that they exist. The evidence of their existence is multi-faceted in literature, human travel, reports, news, films, geophysical explorations from satellites, people who speak different languages and have different cultures -- none of these events contradict one another, contradict history, geography, general public information and none contradict the laws of physics, chemistry or biology. Heaven, angels, God, the devil, etc contradict each other and everything that is real.
Arguing about seemingly irrelevant topics (like R%26amp;S) for everyday life may look futile, but is it really?
Both frames of reference, god-free or god-exist, mayl lead to same, different and sometimes competing conclusions. Yet, either position interprets facts differently and both may use some wishful thinking. The first questions and answers both may raise are about existence. The next questions and answers both may raise are about purpose. And another set of questions and answers may be about existence beyond this life. Non of these topics are irrelevant, since their answers lead to how all humans interact with each other. Without the ability to ask and answer these questions, humans would be little different from instincually programmed animals or flawlessly programmed robots.
OK, you like to be scientific in your analysis of life. That means you observe with one or more of your five senses. You accept only what you observe. The problem is that that limits your awareness of even physical realities. Truth is that you take many things by faith without observing whether they be true or not. Have you actually been to Russia? Then under your %26quot;logical%26quot; parameters, how do you prove it is really there? Well you have extensions on your sense of sight and look at pictures of Russia. But you are beginning to see that many things are taken by faith just because the majority of people are so confident in their assertion of the inference of it. The point is that the scientific method is limited because it can only be used in the physical world. It can't investigate spiritual realities because it takes spiritual eyes, spiritual ears and spiritual understanding to investigate that area. Jesus said, This people's heart has grown callous, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
This is fertile ground for those who wish it, can discern knowledge and broaden their borders. The big picture is amazing. We really are all one. I wish everyone could see this. Beautiful.

  • Phycology-self-affirmation?

In Psychology, it is a well known fact that one can change oneself thru self-affirmation . Some experts believe that the self-affirmations to the subconscious mind is best done in an “already achieved mode”. For example, a student who is weak in mathematics and wish to improve on it should say the self-affirmations as “I am excellent at mathematics”. This is so that the subconscious mind is set with the positive intended goal and thus will program the whole body with the message .But the question is that such self-affirmation is not the truth(or not the truth yet) and will be against one’s own conscience .Would it not better to make the affirmation in the present as “I am getting better and better in mathematics”? What is your comment? Please state whatever evidences or experiences that you know as well.
    Phycology-self-affirmation?
Check out Dr. Wayne Dyers book, The Power of Intention. It is great.

Everything I have ever learned about intention instructs you to think from the end. To assume you are already where you want to be. For instance, 8 years ago, I had NO self esteem. I told myself over and over again that I was a hot girl, people loved to be near me and I was confident. When in all reality it wasn't very true. I was cute, didn't have many friends and strangers didn't talk to me and I was NOT confident! But within 2 months, it worked out to be true. I was getting attention from guys and strangers all over the place and I was no longer shy and uncomfortable.

Now, I see what you are saying about mathmetics. You may not be gifted in math, but to tell yourself that you are completely changes your mindset and opens yourself to the answers better than thinking you'll never get it. Words and thoughts have vibrations that go out and whether they are good or bad, you'll get it back no matter what. So telling yourself that you are great at math, just might open the door to someone walking into your life that is great at it and can tutor you. See?

Be open to the possibilities that affirmations can have. The last thing I would say is DO NOT DOUBT the affirmation when you are saying it. Even if it is not possible to fathom with the ego-mind.

    Am I being redundant?

Fate is not stronger than any man’s mind because free will IS fate; they are equal in power. In reality, fate is the outcome of an event related to one’s personality, nature, and perspective. A persona is a fixed characteristic in the human psyche. One may firmly believe he has free will to change his fate, but he is mistaken; every action requires the innate qualities about him. Ultimately, persona is defined as one’s fate because it is a controlling factor in his “free” will.
    Am I being redundant?
    I don't think so.
    Am I being redundant?
    no
you may be reading into it a bit much .......
